Gina Proia is the chief communications officer at Ally Financial and in this role has responsibility for all communications activities at the company, including developing strategic communications plans and managing media relations, internal communications, digital media, executive communications and corporate citizenship efforts.
She joined Ally in December 2006 to lead external and financial communications just as the company was beginning its journey as a standalone entity following 90 years as a subsidiary of General Motors. In June 2009 she was named head of all communications and corporate citizenship efforts.
Prior to joining Ally, Proia held various positions at General Motors in the areas of financial communications, marketing communications and product publicity. She began her career at a documentary production company in Washington, D.C.
She is a member of the Arthur W. Page Society and was named to PR Week’s 40 Under 40. Proia also serves on the board of the Jump$tart Coalition.
