Ally Bank Recognized for Best Bank Website by Web Marketing Association
Ally wins industry recognition for recent web page enhancements to help consumers research deposit products

MIDVALE, Utah, Sept. 19, 2014 -- Ally Bank, the direct banking subsidiary of Ally Financial Inc., has been named “Best Bank Website” in the Web Marketing Association's WebAward 2014 competition for the recent makeover of its deposit product pages on

The product pages serve as a key resource for current and prospective customers by offering information about the various Ally Bank deposit products and features, current rates, fees and terms, customer reviews and frequently asked questions. Nine product pages in total were included in this redesign, one for each of Ally Bank’s product types, all with similar layout and navigation elements.

Ally Bank leveraged consumer feedback and analyzed site traffic patterns in redesigning its deposit product pages to ensure it continues to meet the needs of consumers in obtaining the information they want and navigating the website with minimal effort. The enhancements address not just visual design but also content, tone and the way information is arranged.

“Our goal was to convey the value of our products as well as our straightforward approach to banking through an interface that is intuitive and mirrors the long-page design of mobile devices,” said Gayle Wellborn, Ally Brand and Digital executive. “The new design incorporates clear navigation options that allowed us to eliminate 36 pages on our site, yielding improvements to account application submittal rates.”

Only one “Best Website” accolade is given for each industry to the entry with the highest score. Entries were judged on the following seven criteria: Design, Interactivity, Technology, Content, Innovation, Copywriting and Ease of Use. Ally Bank achieved a score of 64 out of 70 compared to the bank industry average of 49 and the WebAward overall average score of 54.3.

Now in its 17th year, the WebAward program is the longest running annual website award competition spanning 96 industries. Ally Bank also achieved top ranking in the recent Change Sciences® Consumer Bank Website User Experience Study. The accolade, in which Ally Bank tied with USAA Bank for overall score, rated each company's web site for usability, engagement and conversion.
