Barbara A. Yastine

Barbara A. Yastine was named chief executive officer and president of Ally Bank in May 2012.  She also continues as chairperson of the bank, a position she assumed when she joined Ally in 2010.

Yastine is a seasoned executive with diverse experience in financial services.  She joined Ally in May 2010 as chief administrative officer of Ally Financial Inc., where she had oversight for the risk, compliance, legal and technology functions, as well as serving as Ally Bank chair.

Prior to joining Ally, she served as a principal of Southgate Investment Partners, LLC, an investment and advisory firm.  Before that, she was chief financial officer for Credit Suisse First Boston from 2002 to 2004 and had responsibility for controllership, treasury, risk management, strategy, mergers and acquisitions and tax.  Yastine also spent 15 years with Citigroup and its predecessor companies, with her last position as CFO of Citigroup’s Global Corporate and Investment Bank.  During her time at Citigroup, she also served as chief auditor, chief administrative officer of the Global Consumer Group, and executive vice president and CFO of its consumer finance business.  Yastine began her career at Citigroup as the head of investor relations for its predecessor, Primerica.

Yastine holds a bachelor’s degree in journalism and a master’s degree in finance, both from New York University.  She serves on the boards of directors of Primerica Corporation and nonprofit Phoenix House, and is a former trustee of the Financial Accounting Foundation.  In October 2014, Yastine was named to American Banker’s list of The Most Powerful Women in Banking for the second consecutive year, ranking #9 out of 25 female executives recognized by the publication.
