James (Jim) Duffy

James J. Duffy joined Ally Financial Inc. in May 2010 as chief human resources officer and has responsibility for leading the Global Human Resources function and activities, including talent management and compensation and benefits.

Duffy is a seasoned human resources professional and has broad experience in the financial services industry. Most recently, he served as executive vice president of Global Human Resources for CIT Group, Inc. where he managed through the credit crisis and the company’s transition to a bank holding company.

Prior to that, he spent eight years at Citigroup where he held various HR leadership roles in the consumer group and at the corporate level where he had responsibility for HR strategy, executive development, talent recruitment, university relations and restructurings. During his career, Duffy also held key HR leadership positions at Allied Signal, Inc., Ingersoll Rand, Banker’s Trust and General Electric.

He holds a bachelor’s degree in industrial and labor relations from Cornell University and serves on the board of directors for the Jobs for America’s Graduates organization.
